How the wording is built

Each day gets one of three states: closed, open between two times, or open 24 hours. Days with identical hours are grouped. Three or more consecutive days become a range ("Monday through Friday"), shorter runs are listed by name, and days with the same hours that are not next to each other share one group ("Monday, Wednesday and Friday"). Closed days are listed last.

Times are written in 12-hour form without extra zeros: 8 AM, 1:30 PM. 12:00 AM is written "midnight" and 12:00 PM "noon". A closing time earlier than the opening time is read as the next morning. Open and close at the same time (other than midnight) is treated as closed, and the tool tells you.

Frequently asked questions

What should an HVAC voicemail say about my hours?
Say your business name, the days and hours you answer, and what the caller should do next: leave a message with an address and the problem, or call an emergency number if you have one. Keep it short so people do not hang up.
How do I write hours that run past midnight?
Enter the closing time as the next-morning time, for example 6 PM to 2 AM, and the tool adds the words the next morning so the wording is clear. It reads that closing time as belonging to the day you opened.
How do I put these hours on my Google profile?
In your Google Business Profile, under the hours section, where you can set regular hours and special hours for holidays. Keep the same hours on your website and in your voicemail so customers are never told two different things.
What should callers do outside my hours?
Tell them plainly. Give the time you reopen, whether you take messages or texts, and how to reach you for an urgent problem if you offer that. Customers with no heat or no cooling want to know what happens next.
