Frequently asked questions
How long can a Business Profile description be?
The limit is 750 characters. Only the first part shows before a reader has to expand it, so put your service and city in the first sentence. This tool builds to fit under the limit and drops the least important details first if your text runs long.
What am I not allowed to put in the description?
Google's guidelines do not allow links, and they discourage prices, discounts and other promotions, all-caps shouting, phone numbers and emoji. This tool removes links, contact details and emoji, fixes capital letters, and leaves out price or offer wording. Rules can change, so check Google's current guidelines.
Does this use AI to write the text?
No. It fills a set of fixed sentence templates with the details you type, so the result is predictable and uses only your own words. Because it is a template, read it once and edit anything that does not sound like your company before you paste it.
Will a better description help me rank higher on Google Maps?
We cannot promise that. A clear description helps people understand what you do and where, which is useful on its own. Be accurate, describe real services and areas, and avoid repeating the same keywords, which can look like spam and may cause problems.
Where do I paste the description?
Sign in to your Business Profile, open Edit profile, choose Business description, paste the text and save. Changes can take a little while to appear. Keep a copy in your own files in case you need to enter it again.
