Frequently asked questions
How are the domain ideas made?
The tool combines the words from your company name, your city, your state and your trade words in common patterns, such as name plus trade, city plus trade and name plus city. It drops anything too long or not valid in a web address, and shows the shortest, most natural names first.
How does the availability check work?
Each idea is looked up through the public RDAP registry service from your browser, the same way the Domain Availability Checker does it. Taken names are marked, free ones say looks available, and a failed lookup says could not check. We do not use a paid service.
Should I pick a name with my city in it?
Often yes for a local company. A city in the name tells customers where you work, and a name like smithhvac may already be taken. Keep it short and easy to spell over the phone, since many customers will hear it before they ever see it.
Are hyphens and unusual endings a good idea?
Usually not. A hyphen is easy to forget when someone says the name aloud, and an unfamiliar ending can send visitors to the wrong place. A plain .com with a clear name is the safest choice for a service business.
Does a keyword in my domain help me rank?
We cannot promise that. A domain that clearly says what you do and where can help customers trust and remember you, which is the real benefit. Choose a name you will be proud to put on a truck, and check it is not too close to another company.
